A Sweet Beginning

The Uswatte Group, a leading confectionery manufacturer in Sri Lanka, traces its origins back over 65 years to a heartwarming family story. It all began with Grandma Mabel, whose dream dessert for her husband’s birthday sparked a legacy. Inspired by this cherished moment, her sons, Mr. P.J.C (Christie) Perera and Mr. F.P. Anton Perera, turned that inspiration into reality by founding Uswatte in 1956.

Their flagship creation, the now-iconic “Glucorasa,” quickly became a beloved treat across the island, capturing the hearts of young and old alike.

Today, the company is proudly in its third generation of family leadership, having grown significantly since its humble beginnings. Under the visionary leadership of Mr. S. Quintus Perera, Uswatte has expanded its product range and modernized its business model. This transformation has propelled the company to new heights, with an annual revenue exceeding Rs. 6 billion and a dedicated workforce of over 850 employees.

Innovations and New Ventures

Uswatte Golden Biscuits, launched in the year 2018 with a vision to become the leading biscuit manufacturer in Sri Lanka, has achieved remarkable success. Spearheaded by Mr. Quintus Perera, the company produces a wide variety of biscuits, catering to the diverse tastes of consumers. With a state-of-the-art, fully automated factory situated on a 15-acre site in Millaniya, Uswatte Golden Biscuits is well-equipped to meet the growing demand for its products. Today, the company proudly holds the position of the third-largest top 3 biscuit manufacturer in Sri Lanka.

Uswatte Group continues to uphold the tradition of quality and passion instilled by Grandma Mabel, offering a diverse range of biscuits and treats that have become household favorites across the island.

Leadership

Mr Quintus Perera (Chairman)

Mr. Quintus Perera, our Chairman, brings over 38 years of industry experience to Uswatte Golden Biscuits. His leadership has been instrumental in steering the company to new heights. Educated at St. Peter’s College, Colombo 04, Mr. Perera holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of American International, UK, and a diploma in confectionery from the University of Madison, USA. His expertise was further recognized during his tenure as President of the Lanka Confectionery Manufacturers Association from 2010-2014.

Mr Shankar Perera (Managing Director)

The Managing Director of Uswatte Golden Biscuits, complements this legacy with his own robust educational background and dynamic leadership. An alumnus of St. Peter’s College, Mr Shankar holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cardiff Metropolitan University, a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from the University of Central Lancashire, and a Foundation degree in International Marketing from the University of Exeter. His diverse educational qualifications and strategic vision are key drivers behind the company’s continued success and innovation.
